New Poses

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

As I'm sure you will all shortly notice (and comment on), my baby bump is quite substantial now. It's funny because while an outfit post will always be about, well, the outfits, people don't seem to pay half as much mind to what you're wearing when you've got a visible bun in the oven. And I get it. Pregnancy is one hell of a noticeable bodily change, but it makes me a little sad when I feel like I've styled something really cute that would otherwise get a lot of feedback, but instead all anyone wants to talk about is the bump. Maybe it's because I'm pregnant all the time and obviously looking at it constantly, yet rarely looking cute, so that when I do I'm over here thinking, "Look at the clothes! Don't look at me! Yes there's a bump, that's old news!" But for you guys, it really isn't. And now it's even forcing me to pay attention to it over my clothing because after Michael took these photos and I began the editing process, I realized that about 90% of my go-to poses just look odd when a bump is involved. It's like if I'm not acknowledging it with some sort of hand placement or something, I look like this weird little cumbersome lady trying to be posh and lean against a railing but utterly failing because there is a baby in the way. It was actually quite hilarious. So I'll have to revert to some standard "I'm pregnant" type poses for awhile. Oh well.

HAT C/O ADORNED BY CHI :: TOP C/O PEPALOVES :: H&M SKIRT :: TARGET TIGHTS :: SUPER OLD FLATS THAT MAY BE FROM MARSHALLS BUT WHO REALLY KNOWS

The only reason I got dressed semi-nicely this day was because Michael's parents were coming into town to buy us dinner and hang out, which was really sweet of them, so I figured I should put on more than my usual maternity jeans + sweatshirt combo. I actually really liked how this whole look came out, and felt pretty clever with my cat cap and my cat shirt. This hat is also from Adorned by Chi, just like my sweet pompom headband, and I am equally obsessed with it. I also wore it recently with my horse sweater from Pepaloves and some riding boots, which was just so utterly over the top that it somehow ended up working...or at least that's what M told me. Maybe the moral here is that Adorned by Chi and Pepaloves just pair really well together, or also possibly that I love anything matchey and ridiculous. Most likely it's both. Either way you should check out both brands because they offer personality I guarantee you won't find anywhere else.

  1. You EXACTLY nailed on the head why my poses were all hand-on-belly or something equally pregnant-woman related posing. It feels so weird not to acknowledge the belly! And, I mean, your bump IS adorable, but also your outfits are ON POINT. I love this so much! The hat and the shirt and just the whole thing is perfect! You are so beautiful.

  3. I felt like it was just hard to NOT touch my belly when I was pregnant. It just felt natural. I was like, This is the one time in my life when I'm celebrating having a belly that sticks out! LOOK AT IT.

I am experiencing total skirt envy — this outfit is really perfect. Love everything.
