Apparently Velma

Friday, November 13, 2015

When I wore this outfit to work I planned to be nothing more than a modern homage to the style of the 60s/70s, I mean, the entire dress is suede, but the most comments I got involved me looking like Velma. If we can recall Velma for a moment, she wore a bright orange turtleneck, a red pleated skirt, orange knee highs, and red mary janes. I guess I can somewhat understand an abstract interpretation, at best, but whatever, I'll take it. At least I've got the glasses, right? Either way these shoes weren't the best decision for a four hour shift (I'm working part-time at Old Navy again, did I even tell you guys that?), but I stuck it out and felt like a badass because of it. Sadly the glasses sit really crooked on my face, so they did not make it into the work ensemble, which is a shame, because I feel like they really top off the look nicely....and because I like pretending I wear glasses. We all want what we can't have, don't we?

I feel like these photos are a pretty deceiving depiction of what fall looks like in Washington. While it has been unnaturally nice here for fall, the deeper we get into it, the more mushy and wet it all becomes. I can assure you that now all of these leaves are some unattractive shade of soggy brown. But so it goes. Michael and I are planning a trip to Arizona in January to visit my family, so I'm really looking forward to that. As you all know, I feel most at home when I'm surrounded by some cacti, so I think the trip will be just what I need to come back to the land of gray feeling a little less miserable about it. How is fall treating you guys? What is your favorite fall food or drink? Let's talk. I miss you.

    1. I got the shirt from a website called Asian iCandy, although I'm not sure if they sell it any longer. I couldn't find it to link above, but it has cooking utensils on the front if you go hunting for it.

  2. I also got a crooked pair of glasses from Pollette! So frustrating!

    1. Yes! I actually went to the local Walmart (yuck) and they straightened them for free, so that was cool.

  3. Man I love this suede dress and the top layered underneath it. I definitely don't see how the outfit was a Velma outfit though! Maybe the glasses but just wearing glasses doesn't make you a glasses-wearing character. Anyway, I'm loving the knee high boots paired with this too. Such a cool fall outfit!

    1. Thank you! I totally am not grasping how it was Velma at all either. People are weird.

  5. Those lovely glasses, those lovely clothes and boots, your hairstyle and that lovely smile of yours make you absolutely stunning. Girls who wear glasses are my favourites because I see real beauty in them and having better smiles. You gave the most perfect example I've seen so far. A perfect 10. Well done.

  6. One other thing. That scene in which you are pictured makes realize that you indeed an autumn angel coming out from the sky as the leave first turned to colour then falling to the ground, and personnaly, I know you cannot be compared to Velma at all. You are YOU, That's what matters.
