Between The Blossoms

Sunday, March 22, 2015

This should have been what it looked like on the first day of spring, am I right? Cherry blossoms, no coat, no sweater, no rain, all that good springy stuff. Although, as picturesque as these photos look, the sun kept dipping in and out and there were constant spurts of cold rain. At several points it was even raining while it was sunny out, and if that isn't completely and totally Washington, then I don't know what is. Either way, these trees put me in a total spring mood, regardless of the fickle weather. I really wish they were in my front yard, instead of whoever's house these were in front of. Yeah, I was being a weirdo and posing in front of someone's trees. I figured since there was a sidewalk between me and their yard it wasn't too weird. Plus, I don't think they were home, so it's all good. Michael and I actually used to live really close to this neighborhood, and if I were ever to stay in Olympia (which will never happen) I would live in this cute old-school suburb. I love suburbs.

Guys. Why did I wait so long to go blonde again? I am so serious when I say I will never go back to red. I'm so feeling the blonde right now it's crazy. I forgot how it completely opens up any makeup choices I want to make, which is amazing because I love makeup. Any lipstick goes with blonde hair, and if you've followed me for any amount of time at all, you know I am obsessed with lipsticks.

Also, since my hair isn't pastel anymore, I was able to go get another trusty MAC eyebrow pencil in the shade of brown I used to use forever ago, and now I feel so good about my eyebrows again. I never realized how attached I was to my brows until I couldn't do them the same way with the pink eyeshadow I was using a bit back. I am seriously so happy to have them back! Is that weird? They became as much a part of me as my lipsticks. Ok now I do sound a bit obsessed. I think it's because when I was a kid, I had these super thick, scraggly brows that I spent entire school days being embarrassed of. For years, even though I had gone through phases of getting them waxed or plucking them myself, I never felt truly confident about them and never got compliments, which just made me further believe they were mediocre at best. Then recently, when my hair was red, I finally got the hang of it. I was trimming, shaping, and styling my own brows and people were complimenting them left and right! I felt, silly as it is, like my face was normal for once. Then I switched to the pastel hair and it all went away, and I was immediately self conscious again. So as ridiculous as it may seem (or may be in all reality), a lot of my confidence is tied up in how my eyebrows look.

Sorry for the weird brow rant. I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of their spring, even if the weather hasn't quite got the memo yet.

  1. I've been following you on Instagram so long and I don't know how it took me so long to follow you on Bloglovin'! I love these photos with the spring flowers. Your top is super cute and your eyebrows are on point. The new blonde hair is definitely a lot of fun! I'm pretty obsessed with lipsticks too. I think anybody can rock any color lipstick they want though!

    1. I am exactly the same way! I'll follow someone on IG forever and then one day think to myself, "Why am I not following their blog?!"
Thank you very much for the compliments!
And I completely agree, anyone can rock any color! Lipsticks are so much fun!

  2. Your eyebrows DO look amazing. Would you consider doing a post about how you shape them? I have no idea what to do with my brows - I know they need to be filled in but each time I try it looks unnatural!

    1. Yes! They bloom so quickly and then all fall away, so I was so happy to have the chance to shoot next to some! Spring is so beautiful!

  5. I love the photos, I wish it was Spring in London! Also I was eyeing the same print at H&M because it reminded me of a Samantha Pleet design, it's really cute on you!

  6. I totally get you about the brows! I'm obsessed with eyebrows, always have been. And unfortunately for me, I don't have super great ones. Because of my ginger hairs, they are so light, and I was cursed with sort of straight across eyebrows. So trying to force them to have a nice arch is a pain in my butt. I've always envied girls with full, beautifully shaped eyebrows...much like yourself! Fortunately, I've learned how to pencil/shade mine in pretty well, so I trick people into thinking they are better than they are. haha! Anyways! You look lovely. I love the colours in these photos. And your blonde hair is awesome!!

    1. Ah! I have always envied your eyebrows! They are beautiful!
It's good to know I'm not the only brow obsessed girl around. Thank goodness for good beauty products.
And thank you very much! I am loving the blonde. Shame on me for ever making it red again in the first place, haha. But I never learn.
