A Run For Your Money

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

I had an intense internal debate about whether or not to edit out the run in my tights. I'll usually edit small things like an all too obvious cat hair on a dark surface, or a piece of trash on the ground I didn't notice until I began processing the photos, however this run in my tights was really annoying, and the outfit would look better without it, right? I thought about it. And then I realized that shit happens. Not everyone's tights stay flawless their entire lives, at least mine don't with these fingernails, haha. So here I am, run and all. Not that it's truly upsetting, these tights were less than $5 on eBay, so it's not like I can't just buy another 12 pairs if I felt like it. I care more about tights, like the ones in this post, that I may have trouble locating the specific color again in a fit that I like.

All-in-all, I was quite pleased with today's little get-up, even though it ended up making me late to class. Not that the getting ready part was to blame, I usually test out my outfits the night before so I can streamline my morning process, but the shoes plus the weight of my backpack made walking quickly pretty strenuous. This in itself wouldn't have been a problem as I leave the house with enough time to usually get to class ten minutes early, but the sad fact about the parking situation at my college is that if I leave the house even four minutes later than I usually do, the parking lot goes from empty to completely full. This means I have to park in a different parking lot, on the complete opposite side of campus than that I need to be on, and in the way back of this parking lot. I did my best to hustle, but with my backpack on when I wear heels, walking quickly is miserable. I made it to class about two minutes late, which isn't too bad, but still not ideal for the first week, and I was disgusting by the time I got there. I did however get a ton of compliments on my shoes and general outfit today, so that made up for my rather unfortunate morning.

  1. To be honest, if you hadn't pointed it out, I wouldn't have even noticed the run! The tights are super cute though so I understand how frustrating it is to notice things like that!!

    1. Yeah, I was wondering if it would call more attention to it mentioning it haha, sadly I had to toss the tights, but oh well.

  2. I looove this whole pastel color scheme, and I have those shoes too (and they are impossible to walk in!). You look gorgeous! I adore the whole theme of this (run in your tights, running late, etc.). I often go back and forth whether to edit out runs, too -- I usually do only if they're nude tights, but I liked what you said about everything not being perfect IRL. There's a lot of pressure to create an idealized version of yourself on your blog, for sure.

    1. The shoes, oh yes! Mine fit pretty well, but I can only walk like a normal person if I don't have a bag with me haha.
And that is too true! There is definitely a lot of pressure to appear perfect. Thanks for all your love!

  3. Runs in tights are the bane of my existence. If I get a run in my tights, it ruins my whole day. This is mainly because I always have this luck where if I get a run in tights, I can't find another pair like them. The struggle is real. But since your tights are nude colored, the run is barely noticeable! I actually have these same tights, but I got them from Forever 21. They are SO thin and delicate that I'm actually afraid to wear them often in case of runs...lol. Oh the emotional rollercoaster that is owning tights...

Anyway...I love the 60s vibe of this outfit and the color scheme. It kinda reminds me of Moonrise Kingdom!

    1. Yes runs in tights usually happen to the pairs I cannot replace! It's terrible!

And thanks! I do love that movie. If I could permanently look like a Wes Anderson movie I totally would.
