A Walk in the Woods

For those of you who only keep up with this blog, and don't follow me on any other social media platforms, you are unaware that Michael has finally created his own blog! This took some poking and prodding on my part, and I may or may not still upload his photos into Blogger for him, but he's finally done it and he's currently three posts deep! I've been trying to help promote him since he isn't really into any form of social networking (him Instagramming is pretty much a revolution), but I wanted to throw it out here too, seeing as I'm sure I won't always be posting all over to help him start out. Anyway, here is a link to his blog, if you care to check it out at all!

In other news, this scarf, am I right?! I picked it up at Target before we took these photos because it had been on my mind for quite some time, and I figured if I finally found something to wear that would match it, I might as well pick it up! The blanket scarf is such a trend right now anyway, and having something giant and soft and fuzzy is never a bad thing. It's quickly become my favorite scarf. All my other ones are made of more summery fabric anyhow, so this is a nice fall/winter addition to the wardrobe.

Sadly, I wore the same necklace photoed today while I was at work and it got snagged on something and utterly came apart! Stupidly, the bow above the key was what was holding it together, and not metal loops or anything, which is completely idiotic. I'm pretty sure I can fix it, but it's still obnoxious.

In these photos themselves, I was quite snug, with an intact necklace, and zero makeup on. Somedays I just really feel like my skin needs to breathe, and I felt like this was one of them. I had things to do with M, and I didn't feel like scrubbing it as we went out and about, but I was also fresh out of the shower, and just didn't feel like makeup. I think we all need to remember that that's ok. Not to say you put makeup on for anyone but yourself, because my makeup is for me and me alone, but it's nice to remind ourselves that it's ok to take a day to breathe and refresh, even if we are running errands or whatever.

And lastly, today was my second to last shift before I'm gone from VS for school, and it has definitely been bitter-sweet. I love all the girls there so much (I got my bff a job there after all) and hanging out for them for Pink Nation seemed like the perfect sendoff to what has been an amazing experience. Luckily, I know the job will be there whenever I'm at a point of less stress, and the manager has been kind enough to make that clear to me. I just love all the girls so much! I know I'll be in for visits quite frequently.

Love & Sunshine,
Mariah Alysz

P.S. How do we feel about this new center-justified text? I did a comparison and I think I like it better? Also, scroll down for a cute photo of M walking Chai.

  1. You look so fantastic, and your hair is kind of amazing. Also, I would not have known you weren't wearing makeup unless you had mentioned it; you are so pretty! That scarf is pretty fantastic; I've been wanting to get a blanket scarf for so long! And good luck to M with his blog! I'd love to get my husband to start a blog, but he's not the social media type, haha!
Personally, I am not a fan of center-justified text. I think it makes everything look a little more chaotic. Although it does make sense with the photos not being as wide as the text goes-- might be unsolicited advice, but if you know how, I think it always looks better to have your images be as wide as the post so that the text isn't going past the edges. Makes it more cohesive.

Overall, though, I love the look of your blog right now! Your background is SO cute!
