A Brooch In Security

Before anyone gets confused, that title was my attempt at being puny, you see, I'm wearing a brooch on my sweater. It's possibly the first time in my life I have ever worn a brooch, or pin, or whatever you want to call it, so I thought I'd come up with a fitting title, and I am ever the fan of just terrible puns. Also, thank goodness I googled how to spell it, because I was typing "broach," learning something new every day haha.

Now that that's cleared up, I hope you will join me in the celebration of an actual, bona fide outfit post! I mean, check it, no black! Which is as it should be, at least for me. Instead, since the weather took a cooler turn and I was feeling a bit run down, I threw on what has been named my "sexy Velma sweater," by my peers while we were in Ireland. I got it at a thrift shop there for four euro and wore in a ton, however, by the time I came home it was much to warm to even think about putting on a sweater, so it's been sitting patiently with my other thick knits...until now! It is so soft! And something about it's painfully 70's color pallet, mini turtleneck, and completely synthetic material blend had me running toward it like a moth to a flame. I just can't even help myself. Weirdly, for as odd as it is, I always end up getting a lot of compliments when I wear it. I think it looks a lot better when done with my half-a-hive hairdo, but I'd still love it even if I was bald.

I never really thought I'd be a brooch person. I just couldn't ever think of an outfit in which I'd say to myself, "now what this calls for is a pin to the chest!" however, after sticking this to myself, my eyes were opened to a whole new world! (Aladdin, anyone?) Why aren't we all still wearing brooches? They are so spiffy! I definitely need to amp up my collection, seeing as this is the only one I have. My mom actually got it for me, I love that she always gets my such unique little gifts. I think it's an antique, and I'm pretty sure that's jade as the umbrella shade, but I could be mistaken, either way it's precious, and will be beyond appropriate for the coming fall/winter/eternalgray that approaches us here in the pacific north west.

    1. Aw well thank you! It is rather fall, isn't it? Mmmm, while summer will always be my favorite season, I do enjoy the thought of sweaters and warm coffees.

  2. I'm not that into 70s fashion, but I still find myself drawn to even some of the tackiest pieces from that era. That sweater is seriously beautiful! That's definitely a perfect outfit for autumn :).

    1. I am the same way! I've never ever been a fan of just flat out 70s clothes, yet I am also drawn to some interesting pieces from the time haha, but I'm glad you like the sweater, because it is rather unique itself (:

  3. These photos remind me of Audrey Hepburn, especially the hair and sweater! LOVE it. Haha, "sexy Velma sweater" is so apt and hilarious! And I love the photos; the light and location is so pretty!
