Feeling Purple

Saturday, July 5, 2014

Lately I've been feeling the color purple. I have never really been that big into purple, but after I used that purple-brown dye on my hair about a month back, I've been really into the color. My hair is of course faded now and not too purple, but after another month of recovery time I plan to go even more purple with it. Should be fun. But until then, I think I'll stick to wearing my purple to avoid being bald.

I've had this dress since early high school, and every time I wear it I wonder why I waited so long in-between wears, but I think it might just be time to give this one away. It has been well-loved by me for many years, but something this pretty should be worn more than once a year, if that. I guess if this is the only time this summer I end up wearing it, then I'll let it find a new home. It is a fantastic shade of purple though.

The gnats have been out in pretty thick clouds lately, of course always where you want to be standing or sitting. It's pretty annoying, but my true annoyance lately have been fruit flies. Gosh I hate those annoying things. Last night I scampered around the kitchen with a teacup with a thin layer of dish soap in it swooping it at them and catching them in the soap. It worked pretty well, but I needed something less effort taking that would still keep them off my peaches. They just gross me out. So today I looked up home remedies and decided to improv with the supplies I had at home. I ended up cracking open one of my orange sodas and pouring a bit into a small jam jar I had washed out, then I took a slice from a peach they had landed on a bit too much to make me still want to eat it and plopped that in there. I also squirted a tiny bit of dish soap into the soda to make it a little thicker and then made a funnel out of a piece of paper and stuck that in the top, which apparently lets them in but stops them from getting out. I had my doubts, but it's totally caught a bunch so far, so I'm not complaining. They just multiply so quickly! It's revolting. And my kitchen is beyond clean. Blek.

Anyways, that was random and I hope everyone has a good day. For your viewing pleasure I included some photos of my posing in my hat after he accidentally knocked it off my head when kissing me. They're pretty funny.

Love & Sunshine,
Mariah
