Makeup is Foreplay

or
Don't Tell A Girl Not To Wear Makeup
or
When You Look Good, You Feel Good

So I know the title of this post is pretty strange, but it is completely and totally true in every sense.

When I get up in the morning, I eat breakfast, get dressed, wash face, put on makeup...etc.

I don't put makeup on because I want to impress anyone or because I want any extra attention or because I think I look hideous without it and want to hide my face from the world.

I put makeup on because it makes me feel good.

Makeup is the beginning of my morning, it's like art for your face. It's relaxing and exciting at the same time to take part in a routine and yet have so many options. When I don't feel well, or don't think I look particularly awesome, putting on makeup let's me make myself feel beautiful. It's almost therapeutic. I like being able to put on a bright red lipstick and feel sexy, dawn a plum and feel mysterious, or just leave it with some blush and bronzer and feel fresh and clean.

Makeup is the foreplay of my morning. It is me preparing myself for the day. I am getting myself ready to tackle anything I encounter with grace and a smile. I am prepared. I am ready. I feel good and thus I look good. Not the other way around.

Beauty isn't about presenting yourself in a way that's going to please the entire world, it's about presenting yourself in a way that is simply you

If you look good, you feel good. Simple. True.

And it doesn't matter if you don't wear makeup, because that's not the point that I'm making. We all have our morning rituals, our foreplay. We all have something we know we can do to make ourselves feel good, to boost our self-confidence, and to make us feel unstoppable. I don't care if it's your sweet hairstyling skills or those killer heels you save for special occasions, we all have it.

It's all about what makes you want to go conquer the day.
For me that happens to be makeup (and clothes, but we'll stick to makeup for now.)

So never question why someone wears the same lipstick every day or why they have have a thing for hats *coughmecough*, if it makes them feel good, then more power to them.
Never let anyone tell you not to do something that makes you feel better. Ever. If you're not doing it for them, then they don't have a say. Period.

And boys, there is a huge difference between saying
"I think you look just as good without makeup on"
and
"I think you look better without makeup on"
Stay away from the latter.

Love,
Rya Pie
